A Small Success

It was on Thursday we decided to make a language and literature exhibition in our school. I prepared the rough sketch on how it can be best put on. Finally we came with the idea that going formally for the whole day would be better and our small journey of a day began.
We sent letters to higher authorities of our school. Here we, means all English faculty, collaboratively worked and gave the assignments to our students that I designed in questgarden and zunal.com. I had asked them to design a format of formal and informal letter in a chart paper and write an informal letter on any one of the questions attached in the same webquest to standard seven whereas standard eight had to design the poster for staging a drama ‘Romeo and Juliet’ by Shakespeare and, at the same time some other students were asked to character sketch Romeo and Juliet with some attractive design since they are meant for exhibition.

My webquests:

They came with appealing works using much craft works after a week. We were so much enthralled by their work. The primary objective of this language and literature exhibition was to display how literary works and linguistic terms can be illustrated through craft works and pictures and also to produce some teaching aids with the learners’ effort. Finally, they came with the similar works and we knew the green signal was no far for expo.
So, we notified everyone about the expo be taken place at Audio visual room. We asked for their help to manage display boards and to stick materials that were meant for exhibition giving some hints. We asked them to be by-standers (here I mean those standing at the side of each board to explain what they are to the inquisitive visitors if they make any queries. Altogether 1000 students visited along with Principal, Vice-principal and some co-coordinators.

Everyone got some sort of insights how language can be exhibited and how the learners work can be publicly acclaimed. The children whose works were selected for the expo were so happy. It was like a great reward for them. I heard our ex-in charge saying “sir, the children must have realized that language is so powerful and perhaps they will be working in language even in future if you give continuity to this task.” Anyway since I could mix technology in my classroom and finally show the output of technology involved materials for language cum literature expo, I am happy enough to share here.
A sort of small effort in fact.

  1. Hi, Sagun!

At last, I'm able to comment on your blog. I've tried to comment on everybody's blogs now and then, but you used to post late on Sunday and when I saw your post, the other week had already started. I think we should try to interact with everyone in the course, don't you think?
It was very nice to read about what you have done and I'm glad that everything has worked just fine.
    Good work. Congratulations1

    1. Hello Imas

Yes, I know, you are one of the project peer evaluators besides Helen. And I have made some suggestions and sent you as well. Well Luisa, it is just what we tried. What I realized is, this small effort could leave a great impact in school. We still term it as small, the reason is we will term it a big event if we will be able to perpetuate this legacy in the long run. Anyway, thank you Luisa, yours and some other friends' kind words instigate us to opt similar events in the upcoming days.

    1. Hello Nizara

Thanks for your encouraging comments. See even my fellow colleague was so much energized through your comment when he happened to see it as I have been replying from school. Let me lend his words, He says' full of energizing words'. Nizara actually, I learnt that if we try to make a small step, it slowly transforms into the one full of worth. Yes you are right, it is important for language teaching and learning.
